A Little on His Appreciation for Classical Music

Benedict's Two Paddocks PlaylistA great submission from whichrealityisthis! She writes in about Benedict’s thoughts on Richard Wagner’s Prelude to Tristan and Isolde.

Here’s Benedict writing about it:

Yes,  it’s widely acknowledged as one of the peaks of the operatic repertory, notable for Wagner’s advanced use of chromaticism, tonality, orchestral colour and harmonic suspension… But it just makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Reminds me of the best of Beethoven and Mozart and the best of what’s to come in Strauss and Rachmaninov. So a milestone as well as a gut wrencher.

And here’s whichrealityisthis on why this captured her attention:

His eloquence on why he loves this piece of music just blew me away. I myself am a huge lover of classical music, but I’d never have been able to put it across in such a knowledgeable manner. That’s one more thing then, his grasp of musical terminology. God, how I love this man.”
